Assembly from drawings
Assembly and part drawings → a 3D assembly: every part as its own model, all together in the assembly, with a BOM and an interference check.
Example
Example · a steam engine from public hobby drawings
“Open Column With Reverse”: 18 parts, 22 instances, inches
- Each part is its own model from its own sheet, then everything goes into the assembly; repeats (4 columns, 2 studs) are instances.
- All 231 part pairs checked for interference: 9 hits are threaded joints only (a thread-display convention), others — 0.
- 16 fits and clearances checked by an independent checker — all per drawing. Motion was checked too: a full shaft revolution in 72 positions — parts never collide.
BOM (excerpt) — comes as a file with the assembly
| Item | Part | Qty | Material |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Base | 1 | any metal |
| 3 | Cylinder | 1 | brass |
| 11 | Column | 4 | steel |
| 12 | Crankshaft | 1 | steel |
| 15 | Flywheel | 1 | any metal |
| 16 | Connecting rod | 1 | brass |
| 17 | Piston | 1 | brass |
| 19 | Valve spring | 1 | purchased, no 3D |
What you get
- Assembly STEP with named parts — the assembly tree opens in CAD
- A STEP for every part + STL
- BOM (item, name, quantity, material)
- Interference and fit report
- Assembly video and drawing notes — free, before payment
Honest limitations
- Turnaround 1–2 days: every part is also checked by a human
- Purchased parts (bearings, springs, fasteners) — in the BOM, 3D on request
- Threads are cosmetic, as in CAD: thread “interferences” are flagged, they're not errors
- Assembly drawing without part drawings: we'll ask for dimensions missing from the sheets
